3D Development Software
3dsmax, Maya, Z brush, Mud box, Softimage, Cinema 4d, Autocad and Autorevit.
3dsMax:
3ds Max is formally known as 3D Studio Max and is used for modeling, rendering and animation. The application is compatible with Microsoft windows platform and is used for a lot of different purposes like video games, Tv commercials, Architecture and Film effects.
Maya:
Maya is an application which is used to create 3D assets which can be used in film, TV, Game Development and architecture. The program runs on Microsoft Windows, Mac Os and Linux it was originally developed by Alias Systems Corporation but is now owned by Autodesk.
Here are some of the features of Maya:
- Fluid Effects -Realistic fluid simulator which is very effective for smoke, fire, clouds and explosions.
-

Alias systems corporation worked with Sony Pictures Imageworks to get Maya Cloth up to scratch for the film.

- Fur – Animal fur created to simulate real fur similar to Maya Hair. It could be used for other uses like grass for example.
Z Brush:
Z Brush is specific to digital sculpting and also combines 3D modeling, texturing and painting. The software uses technology called “pixol”, which stores lighting, color, material and depth information for all objects on the screen. The big difference between Z Brush and more traditional modeling packages is that it is more suited to sculpting.
Mud Box:
Mudbox is a program based on 3D sculpting and painting tool. It is currently developed by Autodesk, but it was originally created by Skymatter founded by former artists of Weta Digital here it was used to produce the 2005 Peter Jacksons remake of King Kong. The primary application of mudbox is High resolution sculpting, texture painting and it is also used as a design tool.
Softimage:
Softimage is a 3D computer graphics application owned by Autodesk. It is mainly used for producing 3D computer graphics, 3D modeling and computer animation. The high performance program has been used in the film, video game and advertising industries used for creating computer generated characters, objects and environments.
Cinema 4D:
Cinema 4D is an application developed by Maxon Computer GMBH from Germany, it is a 3D modeling, animation and rendering program and has tools like animating, lighting, texturing, rendering, modeling and also has many features also available in other 3D modeling applications.
AutoCAD:
AutoCAD is an application for computer aided design or CAD . It supports both 2D and 3D formats and was developed by Autodesk and released in 1982. AutoCad is Autodesks flagship product and by 1986 was the most used micro computer program in the world because it had functions like polylines and curve fitting. The program is used in many industrys like architects, project managers and engineers. Also in 1994 there were 750 training centre in the world to educate people on the program.
Auto Revit:
Autodesk Revit is a building information software application developed by autodesk. The program allows the user to design with both 3d and 2d modeling. Also it uses intelligent 3D objects to represent real building components such as walls and doors. Autodesk bought the Massachusetts based Revit technology for $ 133 million in 2002.
